Tappahannock Farmers' Market Grows in Vendors

Tappahannock, VA, September 10, 2010 --
Tappahannock's third market on Saturday September 18th, brings some new and different vendors to Fountain Green in addition to the many returning produce and craft offerings - this month the Green will again be full to capacity! Market management is now in the process of fine tuning the market and has spent summer weekends visiting other markets in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. The TFM project team have been specifically identifying vendors of interest for products that will help round out the market offerings, give a full range of products, and help bring in more buyers and visitors.

In addition to the fine collection of vegetable, fruit, seafood, cheese, honey, prepared food vendors, the market will be adding Donna Francis of Lunenburg bringing in natural grown poultry, and John Haile returns with Essex grown hormone-free beef. The crafts side of the market has Mary Creighton from Aylett with hand painted wineglasses and sunset windows, Kelly Klug from Mechanicsville with fused glassware and painted windows, Gerry Blanks with nautical stained glass windows, Jerry Spangler from Wake with oil paintings and prints, David Westerhoff from Merry Point with natural home-made jewelry - he mines his gems from the land where he lives, cuts and polishes the final pieces, Jan Bates from Heathsville with hand-printed custom designs on all natural ladies garments and Dana Davis from Dunnsville with sealife pottery and ring boxes. For a full list of the market vendors go online at www.tappahannockmarket.com

If you missed breakfast or come late and want to grab a bite, Java Jacks and T&L will be there to fill the gap. You can walk around the market with your coffee, drinks or sandwich and admire the Rivah Country Painters who are presenting their largest ever exhibition along the courthouse walk. In the background, the music of "High Street Low Life" will play from 10 am to noon.

Come support and especially enjoy what is on offer in Downtown Tappahannock. Apart from providing access to fresh produce and distinctive crafts, the market has brought the community together in an unexpectedly successful social event and has added much to the weekend lifestyle! Please join us for the third market which runs from 9am to 1pm on Cross Street and Fountain Green, Tappahannock.
